Vice City Stories Released On PlayStation 2

Posted at 17:57 GMT by Chris :: Category: Vice City Stories :: Comments: 48
Vice City Stories has now been released to North American gamers, European gamers will have to wait an extra few days until the release this Friday March 9th. The PS2 version is a near identical copy to it's older PSP counterpart, minus the multiplayer features. It is retailing for just $19.99, a bargain for any GTA fan.

Check out the Vice City Stories section of our website for anything you need for the game, including cheats (same as the PSP version), a 100% check list, and a complete walkthrough. We'll be adding more content to the site over the next few days.

Yeah i'm buying it today smile.gif.

Great. For anyone who has already got it and is playing through it, you could post about it in our VCS forum, especially if you've played the PSP version so we can hear your thoughts on how they compare. I'm particularly interested in whether any of the bugs which were reported in this topic have been fixed. Specifically for me, these that I discovered: see my post on page 2 of that topic, or click here.
Comment by Tommy Montana on 06/03/07 18:38:
It's good that it's coming in a few days, especially my friend became real happy when he read this. Personally, I think it will stay the same, atleast the bugs will be fixed and the draw distance will improve, but other than that great to hear this Chris.
Comment by Ciaran on 06/03/07 18:51:
I will probably get it after school on Friday but I hope those glitches are fixed. If not well then I will only be seeing some improved things, e.g. The Graphics.
Comment by GTAPlayer on 06/03/07 18:53:
I'm certainly going to get this, but unfortunely I live outside of the US, so I'll have to wait until March 9th.
Comment by the bossman on 06/03/07 22:14:
Yep, just a few days left. I recommend you go on a game website and pre-order it, for example www.gameplay.com, you won't pay more than is necessary. The trailer's graphics looked pretty poor from what I saw of it, but I'm sure the gameplay is as good as ever.

Isn't it a bit to small a gift for something as big as your b-day... mellow.gif

Nice for the people who own a ps2, or perhaps only a ps3. For me little difference. But I'll go to a store and play a little there.
Comment by The OC Master on 07/03/07 08:14:
I hopefully will get to play it at my mates place, hes getting it in like a week and i'll go over and finish it for him
Comment by CroScorpion on 07/03/07 11:29:
I don't have ether the PS or XBOX only PC but I'm happy for you all, and that game maybe push me to buy some console.
Comment by GTAPlayer on 07/03/07 11:42:
Yeah the PS2s these days doesn't cost that much you know, and there's plenty of reasons to buy a PS2 today, it has some amazing games you know. And Jace, man he's getting VCS for his b-day, now VCS isn't something small you know, I'd say it's something big, know what I'm saying smile.gif I'd love to have it for my b-day you know. But I know what you're saying man, of course he should also get a big sandwich layer cake smile.gif
Comment by CroScorpion on 07/03/07 11:51:
Try to tell my dad that and you will know why I have only a PC with 1100 MHz and with my money a can buy new PC, PS 3 and X BOX but my father.... Grrrr

I just found out that in the PS2 version that the manual aiming on a gun isn't in this version of Vice City Stories.

Wasn't there no manual aim in the Liberty City Stories PS2 version, also?

Yeah, I know. I have the PSP version. So how would you aim at cars and stuff that requires manual aim?
Comment by 2003 on 08/03/07 02:39:
Well its stupid because now you have to have a sniper rifle to pop the 99 Red Ballons. I have no idea why it ain't in this Version.

Well, now this is a very bad mistake by Rockstar. I can't see how anyone can live with being unable to manual aim vehicles and other non-auto targetable objects like the balloons. I'm asking all these questions because I have no PS2, yeah but it wouldn't make sense since I already have the PSP version.

Business wise this is a hge mistake they should have put it onto the PS2, PS3 and 360 version

What's the price in England... I converted $19.99 and it came up as £10 but It will probably be more than that.

No, it was in the ps2 version also. In order to do it, you just aim at any person, then click 'L3' and you'll go into manual aim mode, makes it easier for shooting fuel tanks.

@ Woozie, the official price is £19.99, don't understand why it isn't the same price as when gta lcs came out on ps2 (which was £14.99)

Okay, I see. Can anybody else confirm manual aim isn't in Vice City Stories?

@ps3 player: Yet again, the PS3 is backwards compatible. It can play PS2 games on the PS3, if I'm not mistaken.
Comment by GTAPlayer on 08/03/07 21:10:
No you're not mistaken, the PS3 is backwards compatible, and if you wanna know how it plays PS2 games and all just check this out.

I got it today and so far its as I thought it would be - slow to start with, but hugely entertaining. BTW there IS a manual aim, exactly the same as liberty city stories, just aim with R1 then click L3 and you'll go into manual aim mode.

@ 2003, you beat it on ps2 or psp? if its ps2, then either its very short or you play games all day.
Comment by 2003 on 10/03/07 05:28:
I beat it on PS2.
Comment by ArtSweet on 10/03/07 06:10:
wow, you sure beat the game fast 2003, anyway rockstar said there will be new features in the ps2 version. did you find out what it is?(instead of the graphic)
Comment by 2003 on 10/03/07 06:25:
Not really no. Except no manual aiming.

Comment by ArtSweet on 10/03/07 06:33:
actually the bossman already said there is manual aim, and i knew there's also manual aim in LCS ps2, simply press R1, then L3, you don't have to blow baloons with sniper rifle
Comment by 2003 on 10/03/07 06:40:
Which button is L3?
Comment by ArtSweet on 10/03/07 06:44:
the button to horn vehicles and move around
Comment by ps3 player on 10/03/07 09:23:
The PS2 version I just got yesterday and it is pretty good but there is still some bugs. For example when you hit somone and then hes on the floor you hit him again and the sound happens about 3 seconds later. Other than this havn't found any bugs so far so good for me. mf_laughbounce2.gif

Yes, but that's what I call another insignificant "bug".
Comment by Woozie on 10/03/07 17:15:
biggrin.gif got it through the post from amazon this morning biggrin.gif. Any cheats yet Chris?? tongue.gif
Comment by the bossman on 10/03/07 17:58:
There isn't any, I've spent about half an hour looking for them and it only comes up with PSP cheats... Unless I'm mistaken, which is doubtful, there isn't any (at the moment)...
Comment by Rashon125 on 10/03/07 19:15:
The PS2 cheats are the same as the PSP cheats.
Comment by Woozie on 10/03/07 19:26:
They can't be. Because on some of them theres just R and an R1 or anything so I dunno what to press for that.
Comment by Rashon125 on 10/03/07 19:49:
On IGN it does say L1 and R1 for PS2. The PSP cheats also have L1 and R1 but they just mean L and R. So the cheats are the same for both versions.
Comment by Woozie on 10/03/07 19:55:
Okay thanks!. I shall go try them out now.
Comment by Rashon125 on 10/03/07 19:57:
I think I heard it was the same for the versions of LCS but I'm not entirely sure since I don't have the game on PS2.
Comment by ps3 player on 10/03/07 20:27:
Sorry for going off topic but PSP cheats are the same as the PS
ones. When it says R it means R1.
Comment by the bossman on 12/03/07 17:57:
do they work, then? I just need confirmation.
Comment by Chris on 12/03/07 17:59:
Yes I can confirm they do work.
Comment by the bossman on 12/03/07 19:13:
does L and R mean L1 and R1, or L2 and R2?
example: Armor:
Press Up, Down, Left, Right, Square(2), L, R during game play.

L and R must definitely stand for L1 and R1.
