I got GTA IV just because i wanted to mod it. After spending 6 HOURS+ trying to get it to be moddable, and many reinstalls later, I finally got it to work. I put some gun mods and car mods on there, and a mod which lets me punch really hard.

I found a First person mod, but it said it needed an ASI loader. i download one, and it gave me a dsound.dll file, so I put it in, with the .asi file and the .ini file for the first person mod, but when i start GTA IV, through social club, launchGTAIV or GTAIV.exe, it says, right off the bat, after loading the cd, but with nothing showing up, "GTA IV has stopped working".

I have GTA IV 1.0.4.0.
I have Windows vista with an admin account.

How do I get the first person mod to work? The mod and the asi loader say that they are compatible with 1.0.4.0 and lower. I have also tried just running GTA with the dsound.dll and no mod with the same results.

How do i get it to work? I WANT TO PLAY!

Which ASI Loader do you have? I reccomend Xliveless. Plus, you need Aru's C++ Scripthook to make some .ASIs work. Try re-downloading the asi loader(s)and try again(same thing happend to me, and thats what i did) I have the script and it works fine. Yet again I have many ASI loaders but for me Xliveless is the best one. If it still doesnt work, try downloading different versions of the .ASI loader.

(It is also reccomended that you use LaunchGTAIV.exe instead of GTAIV.exe to prevent drunk camera and other stupid things from happening.)

Your problem is that the new version of the game is not compatible with your ASI loader.

This ASI Loader is compatible with 1.0.4 and allows you to access XBOX Live.
