Hi all, I found this thread via Google. I've used your site in the past to download GTA: San Andreas mods.

Straight and to the point, my specs are:

Asus M4A785-M mobo
On-board ATI Radeon HD 4200
6 gigs DDR2 PC800 RAM
AMD Athlon II X2 Dual Core, 2.9 GHz

I'm mostly concerned with the on-board GPU, which I'm 99.9% sure is shit. You can probably see that I'm not a serious gamer, and I really don't know a whole lot when it comes to this kind of thing. I just want to know if I'll be able to run this game at its minimum settings with no hassle. My monitor is currently set at 1366 x 768, but I'm unsure what resolution I'd be able to run this game at.

Any and all help is appreciated.

Don't expect anything decent with a rig like that. GTA IV is a very, very resource-intensive application, and you'll need to shell out $$$ on equipment just to run it smoothly. Which means that you'll probably be stuck with SA instead.

Haven't yet purchased a 360 or PS3 and I still haven't played GTA IV. That bums the shit out of me so if either of my two systems meet the cut I'm going to go out and buy it for PC. Here's the main desktop my parents, sister, and I use. We've had it for a few years. Sorry if I typed too much for the processor. I'm just copying and pasting what the diagnostics tool is saying.

Operating system - Windows Vista™ Home Basic
Processor - AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory - 2046MB RAM
Graphics card - ATI Radeon HD 4670

Here's the specs to my laptop. I've had it for a couple years too.

Operating system - Windows Vista™ Home Premium
Processor - Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory - 3582MB RAM
Graphics card - NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS

So yeah, there's my specs. I appreciate any help in advance.

-----
EDIT: Forgot to add that both systems are 32-bit operating systems.

The one running Vista Basic might be able to run it on medium settings, although you might need to have the CPU and your RAM replaced with better ones. As for your laptop, well, yes, but don't expect it to be fully playable.

Nah man, those won't work with it. I've even tried it on those same specs that you posted as your laptop except with a better GPU and it still won't run at all. It's a really, really powerful game that can't be ran on those and at least be playable. Sorry :/.

Damn. Bummer. But hey, I have some money saved up - I could invest in some things at least for the desktop. Actually, I was thinking I'd sell my laptop anyway if it couldn't run GTA IV because I only used it for porn and live gigs so I could just build a new system or upgrade my desktop. What do you think would need to happen to run it really well? To look and play better than the console versions. I don't want to shell out the cash on hardware and still not not be able to play IV.

Well, I'd make a new topic in the technology section or whatever and post what you want to do, that way everyone can help you make a new build.

U dont need Quad to play GTA IV max or just to run it fine...2 cores will do the job...but Intels CPUs are performing much better than AMD in this game...My i3 2.93 Ghz,2GB DDR3,and 6850 blows the game up...Max sets at 1920x1080...and lill O.C....smooth on abot 40 FPS...My brother hame i5 4 x 2.6 Ghz...same sets, same grafics...same avarage fps... My current PC:

Intel Core i5-661 3.33 GHz (2 cores)
4GB DDR3 RAM
GeForce 9400GT 1GB
Windows 7 Ultimate 32b

GTA IV runs... well see for yourself:

-Low Resolution

-Decent Resolution

I hope it's just the graphics card slowing me down, cause otherwise this system wasn't exactly cheap...

I'm planning on getting a GeForce 250 1GB, hopefully I'll get good graphics AND good frame rate.

EDIT: Just noticed that I recorded the 1st one without sound... great...

PS: I also use Game Booster and run maintenance (hardware and software) weekly. So this is pretty much as good as it can get on this PC.

Well, I wanted to run it but it always goes slow. Even with lowest graphics. Idk any NERDY CRAP so dont give me any of that. I want it simple.

WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM

SERVICE PACK 1

RAM : 4.00
System Type : 64-bit
Model : HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
Processor : Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T6400 @2.00GHz 2.00GHz

Now, if I need a new computer, please tell me. I want to buy a DESKTOP THIS TIME.. And around 500-600. I dont care what it looks like or what it smells like or anything! I just want it to run fast and play GTAIV. I dont like upgrading my PC or any of that. Nothing like putting in new stuff. I hate that. Just send me a new computer link to buy it.

Sirs and or Ma'ams, I'd like to ask if the ff: system specifications (of a computer that I will be procuring in the near future) will run GTA IV fine:

CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 445 3.1 GHZ (3 cores) 3x512 KB L2 Cache
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6750 1 GB GDDR5 http://www.amd.com/u...0-overview.aspx
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows 7, 64-bit

Notes: My monitor's native resolution is only 1366x768. It's fine with me if the game doesn't have AA, and if at least 60 fps can be attained on medium settings.

'Tis bloody hard to attain 60fps on medium with a mid-range system. Most of the people I know who run IV were only able to do 40-45 on decent settings. Blame it on how R* Toronto ported that game.

i5 can't. I have one and it stutters like fuck after a few minutes. Also have a high end GPU and 4GB RAM, way more than it would need if it wasn't made by retards.
