I don't really know much about GTAIII at all, but I think it works about the same. So all I could think of is that you might have installed a script mod so the script you're running is different to what the save game uses.

Reinstall?
Or a new patch download, get the one from R*s official site if you didn't already.... Might work.
Also, if it's a saved game that you downloaded or something like that, consider the saved games may be a different version.
Hope i helped. :)

I am presuming you DO have a legitimate copy.

Every time I've run into "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION", it was a glitch in a car I tried to install.

Save games are a possibility, but usually script mods are the issue w/ them.

Try downloading the patch & savegame from a different site if possible, they may be corrupted. I've ran into that more than
a few times.

If you love something, set it free. If it comes back, it's meant to be.

If not, point & laugh when it flies into a woodchipper.

First - How do you know, it may be a FAULTY DISK
Second - Don't be harsh.
