  Mafia Titanic Posters and Billboards

If you use the code "parnik" ("boat" in Czech) in the 2002 videogame "Mafia:
The City of Lost Heaven," an elderly lady ped and a copy of Tommy Angelo appear
with their arms outstretched on the roof of the cabin of the boat that regularly
goes north through the West River. It's a reference to the "I'm flying" scene
with Jack and Rose in the 1997 movie "Titanic."

You can use the noclip function of "MafiaCon1.2" or "Mafia Hack v1.03" for a
better view.

I used noclip to make a screenshot of it, saved it as a .bmp file, opened it
in Microsoft Paint, flipped it horizontally, cropped it, painted it to be simi-
lar to the poster for "Titanic" that features the "I'm flying" scene, saved it,
and made a couple of copies as .PNG files--one 128 x 128 pixels and one 256 x
256 pixels.

  Installation

These instructions allow you to replace combroadwy2.txd > poster 7 (a Chuck
Schwartz poster--there are a lot of copies of it in the game), which is 128 x
128 pixels, and postersub.txd > SUMO_128lit (one of the SUMO posters), which is
256 x 256 pixels.

Run TXDWorkshop (you can download it at the next link), click Open IMG to open
models > txd.img, click the name of the file combroadwy2.txd in the left column,
click the file you want to replace, poster 7, in the column to the right of
that. (You don't have to click Export and save the original as a .PNG file be-
cause I've supplied the originals in the "OriginalFiles" folder.)

  http://gtaforums.com/topic/310001-txd-workshop-tutorial/

Click Import, go to the file you want to use to replace it--MafiaTitanicPost-
er2.png, click Open, and click Save TXD. This replaces ten posters and bill-
boards on the Broadway-type street in Staunton. (One cuts off the top of what-
ever replacement picture you use, for some reason, but the other nine look
good.)

Do the same to replace postersub.txd > SUMO_128lit with MafiaTitanicPost-
er.png. This replaces a few billboards around Shoreside Vale--two near the air-
port entrance, one across the street from the north side of the Turtle Head
Fishing Co., and one on a tall pole by the southeast side of the bridge over the
bay.

Use IMG Tool v2.0 (you can download it at the next link) to open models >
txd.img and click Commands > Rebuild Archive. (If you're using the "GTAIII Xbox
Version" mod, DON'T DELETE TXD.IMG AND TXD.DIR. My "OriginalFiles" folder has
the two original "GTAIII XBox Verson" files which you can use with the mod or
the original version of the game.)

How to mod such files yourself

Use the instructions given above plus:

Make sure the file you use as a replacement is a .PNG file of the same size
(16 x 16, 32 x 32, 64 x 64, 256 x 256, 512 x 512, etc.) as the file you want to
replace. You can use Irfanview > Image > "Resize/Resample..." to resize it.
Uncheck the "Preserve aspect ratio" box if your image isn't a square. Click
"Set new size" and "pixels" and put the size in the boxes for Width and Height.
Save it as a .PNG file.

Some .txd files you can extract with TXDWorkshop and mod with Microsoft Paint
or Irfanview can be found among collections of .txd files in models > txd.img
