The Times interviews Dan Houser

Posted at 16:45 GMT by Chris :: Category: GTA IV :: Comments: 3
IPB ImageThe online edition of The Times has posted a rare, in-depth interview with Rockstar's Dan Houser. The driving force behind Grand Theft Auto looks into the man's background, avoiding the public spotlight, the controversies brought about by GTA, and touches on future plans - albeit very briefly. The article is an excellent and very interesting read, you should certainly check it out if you can spare a few minutes.

As for the boys themselves, they are already back at work. There's a Western game in the works for next spring, and the next GTA to think of. “We'll think of a city first, then the characters,” says Houser. The script he will end up co-writing will run to around 1,000 pages, nearly ten times as much as a feature film.

TLAD coming to GTA IV PC? Looks like it...

Posted at 14:12 GMT by Chris :: Category: GTA IV :: Comments: 6
A new title update for GTA IV PC released today has added achievements for The Lost and Damned! No official announcement from Rockstar or Microsoft on this, but by the looks of it we can say with some degree of certainty that the game will be coming to the PC version of GTA IV.

Microsoft paid $50 million for the exclusive DLC, however, no details of the deal were ever made public - whether it was a timed or permanent exclusive, or whether it was an Xbox 360 or GFWL exclusive.

At the time of posting there is still no changelog for what else the patch does. Though as per usual there are a wide variety of opinions, some claiming small performance increases, while others say it "doesn't do dick"...

More on that when we get the changelog.

It's a small, not particularly detailed picture, so we can't really tell much from it. Yet. What do you think?

Chinatown Wars for PSP now available worldwide

Posted at 15:13 GMT by Chris :: Category: Chinatown Wars :: Comments: 0
IPB ImageAs many of you are no doubt aware, the PSP version of Chinatown Wars is now available worldwide, having been released in stores across North America on Tuesday, and then yesterday in the rest of the world.

Just like it's DS counterpart, the PSP version has also been very highly rated by critics. It is currently Gamespot's highest rated PSP game of all time. It's 9.5/10 rating surpasses that of both Liberty City Stories (8.6) and Vice City Stories (8.4) - so if you were a fan of those, you're sure to love Chinatown Wars.

"At first glance, Chinatown Wars could be mistaken for a return to the Grand Theft Auto series' humble 2D beginnings. The action is viewed from a more or less top-down perspective, and of course you still spend much of your time driving stolen cars and causing trouble with firearms. But the similarities between this superb PSP game and its '90s progenitors pretty much end there. Chinatown Wars actually has more in common with GTAs III and IV than it does with earlier games, and, remarkably, it even adds to and improves on the formula that made those games so successful. That's a bold statement for sure, but Chinatown Wars really is that good... It's also one of the best GTA games yet."

Gamespot didn't really have that much to say of any flaws, apart from the fact some of the DS minigames don't play as well on the PSP (which we expected), and some camera issues.
