It's an artifact. You've overclocked too far. Assuming you have the same card as me (GeForce FX 5500 pci 256MB), your core clock is 270mhz, and you have dual 350mhz RAMDACs. You should only overclock your core to about 320Mhz and your RAMDAC to about 75mhz above what it was. What are you overlclocking to and what tool are you using? I overlclock to 300mhz core and use CoolBits.

I'm using the method where I had to edit the registry and to overclock I have to go to display settings>advanced>card and then pick clock frequency.

I'm way past those speeds too. 340 / 450. I think I'm going to ask my parents if they'll let me ebay the card for like $50 or so. I really want to get something better.

I also noticed that when I get that high, I'll have the screen freeze for like 30 seconds and then I'll hear a beep then everything will start up.

Just backed it down to 325/420

Well, yes, you've overclocked too far. Also, I like this card, being it's the fastest PCI-standard card you can get. (Besides the FX 5600 256mb, which I can't find anywhere) Also, yes, CoolBits is the registry-hack method I used too. Finally, if your computer freezes for 30 seconds, beeps, etc...that is the card overheating. Try opening the case or getting a graphics card heat sink.
