Righty Posted November 13, 2005 Share Posted November 13, 2005 I broke down and forced myself to buy a video card yesterday. Its not the greatest out there, but it was all I could afford. A Nvidia GeForce 5500 256mb overclocked. I don't know if the GPU is overclocked or just the ram. Anyway, the difference is amazing. I played America's Army on 1280X1024 and it wasn't even slow. I installed it and was looking at the box after and they say that I need a 250 watt power supply. I only have 200 or 240 I think so I may have to get a new one before summer. Is it hard to install thies video cards? mjforever Posted December 22, 2005 Share Posted December 22, 2005 I have a ati 9200 128MB now and Just started playing San Andreas, and it Gets a bit choppy at some of the more action packed spots. I was thinking of the GeForce FX 5500 How does it do on San Andreas? I pretty much turned all of the graphics settings down to the lowest settings, but still get the choppyness with the 9200. mvi Posted December 22, 2005 Share Posted December 22, 2005 I have a GEFORCE FX5200 128MB 3D GRAPHICS CARD and it runs SA at 1024 - 16 bit easily. And it's not that hard to install, it's relatively easy to switch or add in a agp/pci/pcie. Though when I installed mine I did everything in the manual that it said and it didn't work, however I fixed it by disabling the integrated graphics card. I do need 1 DVI, and one Analog vid out fot the dual monitor thing Righty do you have any problems running your 5500? what kind of frame rates do you get?
