GTA Vice City polygon patch error

hey guys i installed vice city in my pc. when i take a boat or fall in water the polygon problem occurs. it tired updating my graphics card but it is of no use. it tried the patch but its say an error : ' C;/Programs Files/rockstar Games/Grand Theft Auto vice city /Gta-vc.exe : unknown version
Please help me guys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bashhead:

First of all this isn't the right section for posting questions about GTA. And it would be nice of you if you tell us your hardware specs. I think polygon corruption in GTAVC may happen on low-end hardware than on later cards, as well as those integrated graphics chips on some systems.

My minimum specs are
Processor : Intel Petnium 4
Operating System : Windows XP Professional Service pack 2
Graphics Card : S3 ProSavage DDR
Ram : 480
hope i get the answer soon :)

Then you're most likely to end up getting plagued by polygon corruption, since you're running Vice City on an integrated graphics chip. It's either that you'll live with it or shell some money on a new and more decent PC.

can you say why the patch tells the error

It's likely that you're trying to patch a cracked (i.e. pirated) game installation. The game EXE has been changed into something that the update program doesn't recognise.
