Hi All,

Having some issues with the game stuttering on my PC.. here are the specs:

i7 920 2.66GHz
ATi HD 4870 1GB
6GB RAM
Win7 x64

Latest graphics drivers and patched to 1.0.4.0

Any ideas? the game is only just playable, but its quite difficult when you're trying to drive and it freezes for a second or so every 6 seconds (approx)

thanks :)

The first thing to try would be the -memrestrict command. Have a look at this: http://www.gtaforums...howtopic=404147

If that doesn't help, you might need to try compatibility modes or try rolling back to older drivers. But give the -memrestrict command a shot first.

Thanks for your reply :)

I've just tried that to no avail.

Mine starts stuttering as soon as you enter the game, not after a period of time.

I tried memrestrict on lowest with lowest resolution and graphics/texture settings but it still stutters an equal amount.

any other ideas?

Try running the game in compatibility mode,(right click the exe/shortcut/and go to the compatibility tab.)

How many programs are you running in the background?

Do you have an SSD for a Hard Drive?

I think i've sorted the problem now. I've found the right settings that allow me to play smoothly :)

I think it was being slow loading the textures from the HDD ...

That's what I first thought was Hard Drive, that's why I asked if you had an SSD because some of the first ones had random stuttering issues.

Glad you figured it out!

It may have a problem with Windows 7. Run it it Windows Vista compatibility mode. You should also scan your PC for viruses, that has worked for me.
