ok so i installed gta downloaded the rockstar social club crap registered there and windows live finished everything and now when i open rockstar social club and hit play this little box that says "program files/rockstar games/grand theft auto iv/launchgtaiv.exe" opens up and then shuts and the game never comes up

system specs:

dell inspiron 531
AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4000+ 2.10 ghz
2gm ram

windows vista (service pack 1) 32-bit

graphics card is ASUS EN9600GSO brand new just installed it

i bought the game a few days ago and it started up just fine so im sure my system meets the reqs but it couldnt be played cuz of my ancient graphics card which i just replaced now i cant get the game to start at all someone out there please help any suggestions or help is much appreciated!!!

you installed the game then you changed your video card?

hmm

i'd try just, uninstall GTA4, restart, reinstall GTA4, restart, then try run GTA4 again. perhaps it's locking up because its looking for a different video card or something? worth a try...

Try updating the game since I have seen some people get by with your specs.

The opening/shutting thing was an issue some experienced and was fixed in 1.0.2.

The patches are here. (I'd install all of them)
