Exclusive The GTA Place Video Walkthroughs

Recommended Posts

The GTA Place,

I think I've asked Chris about this idea a while ago, and said yes. Well I have been thinking when the Ballad of Gay Tony 2nd Episode expansion pack is released in September or October I will be recording and uploading mission walkthroughs just for The GTA Place (Website name , logo etc...). I dunno what do you guys think? I have a few things that will make this a complete sucess. I have an editing program that will help me delete cutscene skipping. I will not be using Windows Movie Maker, since it lacks organizing clips and deleting footage.

I just want to know on what you gamer's of TGTAP think? Should I do this for you guys? Or should I think of something better to do?

By the way, I will be using a 360 Elite so that means I will be using a HDMI cable, that will make the video Christal Fluffing Clear instead of Low Res videos.

-Husky.

Sounds like it could work as long as you get just the important parts of the mission. Maybe even show an easy and faster way of completing the mission as well since most missions allow stuff like that. Take the Mission Roman's Holiday for example on Lost and Damned

The mission where you have to go kidnap Roman.

Instead of driving to get him, you can just

Call 555-2222 to make him come to you instead

.

You do know that these raw videos are going to take up loads of Gb's, right?

Seriously, it's going to cost TGTAP a lot of bandwidth if they'd have a video up for every single mission.

Besides that, you'll need some capturing hardware and good quality ones are going to cost you.

On another note, I'd do what Gerard said.

But really, GTA Missions are pretty self explanatory. I'd say a text walkthrough (discussing tactics, mainly) with 3 to 5 pictures a mission would be more then enough. And it will save loads of bandwidth in the process.

Videos are fine so long as soundtrack (turn the car radio off when recording) or in fact any music isn't being played. We're fine for bandwidth. We already use about 2 terabytes a month, hardly going to make things any worse. It's burstable anyway so we can go over limits with no overage charges.

JOOI which video editing program are you going to be using? I'll assume you're on Windows and that you're using Premiere Pro for now. At least I'd hope so.

I'm fine with this happening. Though of course I'd need to see an example video nearer the time, then I'd give you the tech specs to render all the videos at if I'm happy with it etc.

If your computer's up to it, I'd say recording it from the PC-version would be a better solution.

Not because it's the PC version, but because recording from the frames from the PC itself will be much easier.

Just start fraps, record the raw data and convert it with Premier Pro.

@Chris: Mmm I will be using Sony Vegas Editing Pro 9, it's much better than Windows Movie Maker. And the only problem I am having with my computer is connecting it to the internet. Eh maybe I should connect it into my PS3. Yeah the computer that I will be using for recording (nothing else) is a Emachine. I don't know if it will run it. btw It wont be just gameplay with diolauge. It will have artwork from some signature makers like: Mr.Llamallama , Earthbound , Toxic , #69 etc.

@Jace: Recording games from the PC is a big money guzzling buisness IMO. You would actually have to save up to like $ 4,000 for a computer that would run all of that shiz. And some fraps recordings have the worst quality ever. Looking at Low Quality videos on YouTube is like going to a strip club and looking at the DJ.

So assuming this is going to be a full walkthrough, are you even up for recording it? And to avoid making such boring and long scenes, why not just give a brief run down on the missions and what you're suppose to do? That could possibly work.

Also, considering the PC version of GTA IV doesn't run on even the best PC's it would be pointless. The idea though seems fine, I say go for it if you think you can do it and get it done, but right now I suggest you try it out on other things first rather than wait for the second DLC.

The proper version of Fraps is fine because it can do full res, it's dickheads who get the free version at low quality half res watermarked bullshit that make it look bad. But Husky has an HDMI capture so it doesn't matter either way, and besides you can't get the DLC on PC so I don't even know why it's suggested.

@Husky: Meh, Vegas is shit, get Premiere :P

And I hope your computer is fast enough to keep up with capturing HD footage, you realise you need pretty awesome specs for that right?

edit: Give me some examples.

Well not necessarily, about I think before I joined the forums I used to e-mail this guy. I think his name was VonerJones? Anyway I asked him what are his specs to his rig for recording and shiz. He actually told me he uses his pornography computer to record and edit his videos.

Well the computers just a regular emachine (editing). Or I can use that pc that I said I was going to use for MTA for recording. The specs can be found in the Raiders MC Chat Topic.

@TM: I can do that too if you guys would like. Or maybe they can go to the store and buy the book. omfg who reeds da manuel. Video walkthroughs are better in my opinion.

I wont be posting the whole freak'n mission. For example take the mission " Its your call " for example. Instead of me waiting the whole time waiting for about 1 minute I can just fast forward it.

Chris: How dare u diss sony vegas! lol Whats Premiere? Hmm never heard of that editing program.

So that Premier editing program is downloadable required? Can I find that program in the store?

EDIT: This is a example of a video walktrhough that no one would even bother to watch.

You see he includes about a few seconds of cutscene's , and talks about adding music to your video will be bad. But he plays the soundtrack on his video. He moves the camera in rear view and front view. And the worst part is, he is talking too fucking much. Thats what cheap people do to record games.

You do realise that it will take an extremely long time to render all that HD footage on a normal computer. I would recommend you do the editing on the gaming computer that you have.
