Record DVDs and TV shows straight on to PSP memory cards with this nifty Japanese media recorder...

Third party peripherals are not always the most anticipated things but there are always exections. This is the Media Recorder VRX-02 from RockRidge Sound, Japan. This device can hook up to your TV or DVD and you can record movies straight to you memory stick in PSP MPEG-4 format. It's priced at about €110/£75 and will be launched in Japan in July.

Do you think this is the end of the UMD movie format...?

No, I don't. Some people don't want to spend that much money on that. Some people don't have the memory stick space to use. And big movie companies will probably still release a few UMD movies, cause people will still buy them. I think it will take some time to catch on, as not everyone has a PSP.

There is no "freedom of speech" in forums, yes you can say what you want but in the end what the mods say gos. This is not a democracy.

I suppose it's true that it's not really worth it. I mean why pay 110€ or whatever for the device and then have to buy loads of Memory Sticks which cost about the same as the movie anyway....
